We are a tall family and it was time for taller vanities in the bathrooms! I decided to start with the kids' bathroom and built them a functional vanity with a built-in hamper making use of wasted space! The original vanity was made from skinny furring strips, 1/4" plywood. and 1/2" MDF. It had two doors, no shelf, and too much wasted space for my liking.
The new vanity is the same length and about 6" taller - it is 36" tall! I created four drawers, a shelf in the center cabinet, and added a laundry hamper. I also used the existing countertop since it was fairly new - I built it a few years ago!
I painted the vanity one shade darker than the walls. It is a light grey and makes the bathroom look much brighter!
I also cut my own trim using a router to go around the countertop where it meets the wall. It is a bit thick but I think it still looks good. For more information, including the plans to build this vanity and others, take a look at the blog post!
