Do you love the Kilim rug craze? I do! I've been wanting one for awhile, but they can be expensive. Recently, I made over my small half bath and I thought this would be a perfect place to add one. Because I couldn't find the rug in a size that would fit the space, I came up with an idea to make my own. I purchased a yard of fabric in a Kilim pattern from an Etsy shop. When I received the fabric, I decided it was a little too bright for my taste. However, I did like the more muted colors on the reverse side of the fabric, so I flipped it over and used the back as the top instead.I cut the fabric to size, ironed it and placed it on a table with the side I did not want showing facing up. I then cut a piece of rubber shelf liner slightly smaller than my fabric and placed that on top of it. I folded the edges of the fabric over the shelf lining and glued it together with fabric glue.
Once I had all the edges neatly glued in place, I added some fringe trim I picked up at Hobby Lobby. I used fabric glue to attach that as well.
This was a super inexpensive and easy way to get my Kilim rug, in an unusual size! Click the link below to see the full after photos!
