Antique Cherry Dresser

Someone had previously refinished this dresser (and not very well). It's solid cherry and I wanted to keep as much of the natural wood as I could but give it some contrast so it really popped.

After. I used Java Gel from GF to stain the drawer fronts, top, and mirror. I love how this light greige really sets off the beautiful, rich color of the wood.

Before. Patchy and uneven.

I loved the original hardware and keyhole covers. I used ORB to darken them up.

The top is a gorgeous piece of cherry veneer but it had lots of little imperfections I couldn't sand out (I didn't want to sand through the veneer). The dark stain hides most if them, especially on the drawer fronts. You can find what I did with the drawers and mirror detailing on my blog (link below). :)
