Round and Round We Go–The Story of My DIY Coffee Table

After coming across a SUPER CUTE coffee table painted like a clock on seekinglavenderlane.com 's home tour, I knew I HAD to have one. (By the way, she is awesome and you should totally check her out!) She made one out of a round dining table that she had, but I didn't want to have to find and buy one of those, so I made my own.
With inspiration from a table base in a Pier 1 magazine (price tag $100--$$$$ I couldn't afford), and some help from a plan I found online (http://rogueengineer.com/diy-x-brace-side-table-concrete-top-plans/), I made my table base for about $8. WIN! I did have to play with the angles in order to make the table normal coffee able height of 18".

I squared the edges of some 2x8 boards and glued them together.

After trying to us a jigsaw to cut the circle for the table top, I decided a router would be a better option. With a little help from my good ole dad, we cut the circle out for the top and I spent quite a while sanding it down.

Once it was sanded, I stained the entire table and let it dry for a day or so.

Next, I dry brushed the top with some cream colored sample paint I had on hand ad brought it inside to put on the Roman numerals.

Long story short (you can read the wholes story on the blog post below), it took me FOUR DAYS to get these numbers on the table, but they are finally there now and I LOVE IT!

Isn't it the cutest little table???!!

The best part about it is that I can say I made it myself (with some help from dad--those will be good memories). Second best part? It cost about $20-25. Can't beat that!

By the way, see that ladder in the background? That's what I made when I got frustrated that my jigsaw wouldn't cut the table top. I was determined to make something that night, and since the table top wasn't going to work, I cranked out a cute little blanket ladder. Now I just need to find some blankets for it haha!
