Hip Hip Hooray, A Completed Bathroom Remodel

It seems like it took forever and a day to get this project completed and finally, it's done. The goal was to brighten the space and bring it out of the 80's, it desperately needed an update. Here's to "carpet in the bathroom" never coming back in style.
A reminder of how dark the shower was before we started our "little" project. First order of the day was to bust out this half wall and get some light into the shower area (which required moving plumbing and a vent), but wow, what a difference it makes!

We took out the old shower and used a standard shower base then tiled the rest of the walls, adding a glass shower surround and door. It really turned out wonderful and brightened up the entire space.

This is the best before picture of the vanity area that I have. Wish I had thought to take a better picture. The vanity is a whopping 84" in length. Hugo, with a simple builder standard mirror covering the entire wall behind it.
Can you say dated?
My first order of business was to remove that mirror, then I wanted to divide up the huge expanse of counter-top with a wall cabinet (a place to hide all the junk), tile that wall and hang framed mirrors instead. The counter-top was changed out along with the fixtures, the cabinetry got a gorgeous shade of blue paint and new knobs. Presto, chango, what a drastic difference that made!

I am completely enamored with the end result. The cabinetry color is even better than I expected and the mosaic tile accent wall is outstanding (although they are a pain the butt to install).

Here's a few more pictures of the finished product. This is the view from the entry off the master bedroom. The closet is the door on the left and around the corner, at the shower, is the water closet.

The water closet. It had linoleum meeting up with carpet at the doorway. Yuck! Now it has a seamless transition into the room. So much better.
