I had plans for my life. Big plans.
I was going to work in an inner city school, live downtown, marry a guy who probably worked in a high rise for a big company.
You know that saying- "We plan, God Laughs?" Yeah. That's pretty well my life.
I live in rural Iowa, work for a ministry, and have married a farm-boy-maintenance man. My plans look pretty silly now, especially in light of the beauty, the joy, the incredible blessings that I've been given. It looks nothing like I thought it would. It's better.
My life has taken another surprising turn... we bought a farm. That's right, this city-girl is turning country. Trying to, at least.Along with several outbuildings (like this gorgeous barn), our farm came with a 1934 farmhouse. It's had a couple additions in its nearly hundred year life (yay, indoor plumbing! Hurray bathroom!), but much of the original charm remains.
This old house has had quite a life- and we're honored to be able to help restore it back to some of its former glory!
Some of our remodel includes restoring the original hardwood floors in the kitchen. The former owners carpeted over those old floors several years back, so tearing up carpet was a first (and incredibly time-consuming) step.
We also will be restoring and refinishing the hardwood in the master bedroom, and updating the flooring in the bathroom and entryway. Following that up with a new living room carpet and a fresh coat of paint, and our little farmhouse will be ready for the next 75 years of love!
