Room number four in our total home renovation is the Master Bedroom. We just recently completed this remodel, as we are systematically, room by room, renovating our vintage French Country home. This is the "before" of the master bedroom. It's a wonderful, large room, but it had not been updated since 1972 when the home was built. A true time capsule, complete with pink shag carpet, popcorn ceiling, pink silk drapes, and floor to ceiling rose wallpaper.
This is the "after", now light and airy. New wood floors, wood planked ceiling, light gray walls, and white wood trim.
We added tongue and groove wood planks below the chair rail and painted them white for more architectural interest.
Additional trim and moulding was added to the top of all the doorways to give the appearance of taller doors and ceilings. The interior doors were painted a darker gray.
We added two built in cabinets, one on each side of the window seat, creating more storage and a way to hide the tv.
I hope you have enjoyed the transformation of our master bedroom! My husband and I are doing all of the renovations ourselves, and have completed the kitchen/breakfast room; the family room; the dining room; and not the master bedroom.
